About ...

The World Ship Society, or WSS, is a world-wide club, which contains about 4300 members in 42 countries and unites the activities of people interested in shipping.

Freighters, coasters, navalvessels, three-masters or tugs are among the specific interests of the members, while others are interested in engines, companyflags or funnels...

Since it's start in 1947, the WSS brought a lot of people sharing the same interest together. Totally, there are more then 50 branches of the WSS world-wide, of which 3 in Holland. These 3 branches have over 330 members and are devided into the regions North-Netherlands, Rotterdam and Zeeland.

Besides the monthly magazine Marine News, the WSS has published over 50 books since it's start. In most cases the books are dedicated to the history of a company, like f.e. a book which was published in 1995 about the Dutch charteringagency 'Carebeka' of Groningen. A book which was written by J.H. Anderiesse and E.A. Kruithof, both members of the Zeeland Branch and J. Oostmeijer of the North-Netherlands branch. In 1995 it was completely sold out and was reprinted with new materials in 1997.
