Marine News

WSS monthly magazine "Marine News"

Often the WSS members are trying to find out about a ships history. The year it was build, at which yard and the owner are most times at the beginning of the search. After a while the ship is sold and propably renamed. All this information goes into maps, cardfiles or into the computer. Ofcourse the goal is to get a picture of the ship under each name.

The results of this work are published in the monthly WSS magazine 'Marine News', which besides fleetlists and shipping news also contains an overview of recent renamings, collisions and ships that where sold for demolition. Most of the data is from Lloyd's Register of Shipping and is added to the facts and photographs sent by WSS members.

The Marine News started as a 12 page magazine containing 1 photograph om June 1947 and is now a standard 64-page format with colour photographs and is widely respected by marine historians and those in the marine industry.
