Zeeland Branch

Our branch ...

Maybe you've seen them in the summer. People sitting in their chairs near a dike at the Western-Scheldt, with food, drinks and a telescope within range. Suddenly, despite of the heat, they become very active; taking camera's from their bags, walk to a place close to the water and bring their camera's into position.

With great astonishment any person will wonder what the object will be for the photo. A group of rare birds, a nice cloudy air or maybe a beautiful sparkle in the water. The truth is different. An approaching ship is photographed a couple of times. After the vessel has passed, they write something in a book en return to their seats.

It's quiet again...

There's a fair chance that this unknown photographer is a member of the World Ship Society's Zeeland Branch. This branch was started in 1985 and has over 60 members. They come together about 8 times a year for a slideshow, a lecture, an excursion or just to exchange information and photographs.

An item which returns every year is our excursion on the Western-Scheldt to take pictures of passing or anchored vessels. Take a look overhere for the events scheduled for this year.
